GOPAL CHANDRA PRAHARAJ CENTRAL LIBRARY

The REC Central Library serves as a model of an evolving and dynamic facility in technical learning since 2006.

The library, as an established knowledge hub that is conveniently accessible by those associated with the College, has a major contribution in making REC an internationally top ranked Technical, Management & Research driven institution. The Library's collection comprises hybrid resources (Print & Electronic) in the field of science, technology, engineering and management. The Library also has a separate Internet section consisting of a number of networked terminals for providing recent and most comprehensive access to e-journals and other e-resources to the faculty, students and staff under Intranet and Internet environment. The Central library has automated all its routine activities through library software called "LIBSYS" and also extended the scope of various services like CD-ROM database search and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).

Central Library Facilities

Automation :

The library has been computerized using Libsys Software. Acquisition and Circulation activities have also been computerized. The books have bar coded accession numbers for which laser scanners are used. The readers can search for availability of books using the OPAC module.

Digital archiving :

Institutional Repositories, Learning object Repositories, E-Thesis, Electronic records Management etc. all come under the purview of the Library's Digital archiving and Digital preservation system.

Digital Library Section :

The library even has digital library section where the teaching faculty/ students/ research scholars can access the online and offline electronic resources. The institute has recently subscribed to DELNET , DOAJ ,Sciencedirect while several online journals are made.

Internet Facility :

512 kbps connectivity has been installed in the library for the sole purpose of using online resources.

Online INDEST-AICTE library :

The College has joined the INDEST consortium under AICTE. Under this scheme the College is subscribed to use facilities for Many user (parallel) online IEL libraries and hard copies of all society publications of IEEE. Through this more than 4000 (four thousand) Springer Link Journals are made available online. The Back Volume proceedings and other publishing since 2004 are also available. The online library contains publications of Springerlinks is equipped with latest PCs facility for downloading on to CDs and laser printers.

Book Bank :

A student is allowed to borrow 12 textbooks from book bank for one semester (applicable to working days). There is no fine is charged with in One semester.

Inter Library Loan :

Central Library is a member of DELNET. There are more than 700 institutions covered under this network. In this system, books or photocopies of articles can be borrowed/ supplied from any of these member libraries.

Reprographic Facility :

The library has one photocopying machine to cater to the requirements of Students and Faculty.i.e Logo , Content paper , Text papers etc.

Reading Room :

The library has two large reading rooms spanning a total area of 6500 Sq.ft at first floor and second floor levels.

All working days : 07.00 AM to 08.00 PM
Sunday and other holiday : 08.00 AM to 02.00 PM
